This week we've got loads of Hot Wheels news, from RLC to Convention Cars, to the Custom Ottos made available on the 40th Anniversary Road Trip circuit. Red Line Club Oh kids -- Feast your eyes on this candy apple red "Neo-Classics" Shelby Cobra 427 S/C. It's scheduled to go on sale 10/7. Hit www.hotwheelscollectors.com, join the Red Line Club. We did. We love Hot Wheels Red Lines. 2008 Convention Cars Also shown here are two of the convention cars for the big Los Angeles Convention that opened October 1. The SS Express (blue and red w/ logo) will be available online and at the Con. It's limited to 10K. The orange '69 Pontiac GTO will only be available at the convention and is limited to 3K. The ghost flames on this thing are fantastic. 40th Road Trip Custom Ottos On the right side of this page we have shots of the other "Custom Otto" cars which were available on the Hot Wheels 40th Anniversary Road Trip. We showed you the Speed, KS and Watkins Glen, NY cars last month. This month we’ve got photos for you of the El Segundo, CA kick-off version from the Mattel employee picnic the day the Road Trip crew all left to hit the road (silver with flames), along with Bonneville, UT (red and white), Indianapolis, IN (red, white and blue) and Detroit, MI (dark blue with stripes). These cars are bringing in big bucks on eBay gang! Mattel isn’t releasing production numbers, but they're very small runs. What’s neat about them is that Mattel did each car in a different style and package to represent their lines. El Segundo was a Super Chromes, Bonneville was a Since '68, Speed was a Classics, Indy was a basic car Treasure Hunt, and Detroit was a Modern Classics. The exception was Watkins Glen. That being the finale, Mattle created a unique package and went with an original deco. New Hot Wheels Classics Classics Series 5 launches this month! Gotta love the 001 - Hammer Sled, 011 - Greased Gremlin, 017 - Custom '56 Ford Truck, 018 - Studebaker Avanti, and the 023 - Fish'd & Chip'd! Check ‘em out! |
