Target to get exclusive Sports Picks
Written by James Tomlinson

Starting next year, January to be exact, Sports Picks collectors will have another retailer to haunt for their favorite collectibles. Select Target stores will be carrying McFarlane Toys' NFL 2008, Wave 3 lineup.

This is a big deal for Sports Picks collectors, this return of Sports Picks product to Target Stores, for a couple of reasons.  One, this will mean increased availability of Sports Picks collectibles regionally.  Second, there will be quite a few more NFL 2008 Wave 3 figures around than previously expected, and for longer.  There'll be some good to that of course, and just as likely, some bad; chiefly in terms of secondary market appreciation potential.  What's good, is that as part of its NFL 2008, Wave 3 assortment, Target will receive an exclusive "Thanksgiving Day" version of Cowboys running back, Marion Barber III.

Alongside the exclusive Barber and the rest of NFL 2008, Wave 3 (Clinton Portis 2, Donald Driver, Jay Cutler, Marion Barber III, Brett Favre 5 (white jersey), and Brett Favre 5 (green jersey, Target stores will also be carrying an assortment of 3-inch NFL figures, which will include LaDainian Tomlinson, Ben Roethlisberger, Tom Brady, Peyton & Eli Manning and Ben Roethlisberger.

There are approximately 1,500 Target stores in 47 states, including more than 175 SuperTarget stores.  McFarlane Toys itself is touting this product placement as nothing shy of "a Sports Picks renaissance," beginning with about 350 of those 1,675 Target stores.   For pix of the entire NFL 2008 Wave 3 assortment, and the Thanksgiving Day Barber, go here: www.spawn.com

Quote of the day

Robin: "Picked up the seal pulsator yet, Batman?"
Batman: "We're still over land, Robin, and a seal is an aquatic, marine mammal."
Robin: "Gosh, yes, Batman, I forgot."
