Iron Man Mark I Armor
Written by James Tomlinson
Friday, 28 November 2008

Okay, how many Hasbro Iron Man 01 Armor figures did we see out there?
And it's one of the coolest suits in the film, not only because it's the "origins"
armor for what amounted to a new and modernized origins story, but because
there's so much going on with it; it's so intricate for all of its hack 'n' tack rusticity.

Well, Hot Toys is offering an incredible 12-inch Iron Man Movie Masters
Mark I Armor "poseable model kit."  We all know what that means by now.
We know that Hot Toys kicks it, and we know that poseable model kit means
high-end "action figure" once it's in your hands.  If you want a opinion
(you're getting it anyway), there's nothing better available in this regard.

This thing is unbelievable.  And for just a few dollars more,
it's got more features and more poseability than the polystone Sideshow
Maquette that hits next month.  Yeah, that thing is exquisite, but it's not this.
And you can get this for way less than Tony Stark paid for it in blood, sweat, and tears.

The flip-up face hood reveals probably the best likeness of actor Robert J. Downey, Jr.
we've seen since we were at the movie.  It looks like him, and he looks over-heated and
alive in that armor.

Yesiree, it's the Old Shell Head but for a new world.  And didn't we love that movie!
Can't wait for the next one.

We can tell you right now that two of our display advertisers are carrying it;
Big Bad Toy Store has it in stock and so does White Wizard Toys.
If you want to check that out, click HERE and HERE.

If anyone's feeling super-generous, THIS is what the editor wants for Christmas this year,
even though it won't be available until Q2 2009.  FYI, I'm a blacksmith, so coal works too --
you know, say, if you've been harboring a lower opinion of my work this past year.
Just know that either way it's a win for me.

Quote of the day

Robin: "Picked up the seal pulsator yet, Batman?"
Batman: "We're still over land, Robin, and a seal is an aquatic, marine mammal."
Robin: "Gosh, yes, Batman, I forgot."
